I kept 3 alarms to wake up today which is actually less, I need to keep atleast 4 to 5 alarms 45 minutes before I wake up, but since I didn't want to disturb Rahul, I kept only 3.

Just before I was about to wake up I heard someone yell

"Shut that damn alarm off"

I was surprised to hear a male voice in my room and when I opened my eyes, everything came back rushing, I was a married woman now, and I woke up my husband with my alarms

"Sorry" I muttered silently turning off the alarm and going to get ready.

Nobody can wake me up from my sleep, I am a very deep sleeper and my mom used to keep calling me "Kumbakarna" jokingly cause nobody could ever wake me up from my sleep.

I silently took all my stuff cause I hated disturbing other people's sleep and went to the washroom to freshen up.

By the time I came back, Rahul was still sleeping and I could see the sunshine through a gap in the curtains

He had looked so tired and I knew raising a baby alone was a huge task and the sacrifice usually came in the form of sleep, I went and closed the curtain to let him sleep.

As it was my first day, I didn't want to wake up late and wanted to create a good impression on everybody.

I wore a red churidar set with a dupatta, it was simple yet elegant and wore my bangles on my dark mehendi hands. In our culture, it was said darker the bride's mehendi, the more the husband loved the wife but only I knew the reality of our marriage and knew love would never exist.

By the time I went down, everyone else was already awake

"Good morning uncle, aunty"

"uncle aunty? call us mom and dad beta"

"um okay aunty, I mean mom" I said smilingly

I saw uncle was sipping his chai while reading his newspaper and aunty was doing pooja

"Shall I help you in the pooja aunty?"

"again aunty?"

"sorry, mom"

"no beta, it's okay, I am almost done anyways, you don't need to do anything, go have your breakfast"

"I'll prepare the breakfast mom" I told her with a smile

"No no, it's already prepared but you have to prepare some sweet for a ritual, but it's completely your wish, you can prepare only if you want to"

"I'd love to prepare mom, what's your favourite"

"gaajar ka halwa didi" I heard Ayushi say coming from behind me.

Ayushi was Rahul's younger brother and it looked like she was coming back from a run. Ma continued with her pooja and me and Ayushi went to the kitchen to prepare coffee for me and orange juice for her

"I can call you di right or do you want me to call you bhabhi?" she asked with a smile

"anything you wish dear, I am both to you anyways" I said with a smile

"By the way, why are you awake so early, you must be so tired from yesterday, where is my bhai? still sleeping like a donkey"

Before I could answer I heard a throat clearing behind us and turned to see him standing behind us

"your donkey brother is standing right behind you sister" he said calmly

Ayushi just laughed it out and said "someone woke up very late today, someone kept you awake yesterday night" she said asking her brother but looking at me

I started blushing so hard and I didn't know what to tell her when he said " I don't know about night but someone sure did wake me up early" he said and walked away

I knew he was talking about my alarms which woke him up

I continued preparing gaajar ka halwa and ayushi was helping my way around the kitchen when maa came and looked surprised at us "waah, first time I am seeing Ayushi willingly in the kitchen, otherwise you have to always drag her to the kitchen"

"Just helping bhabhi around ma, she doesn't know where everything is"

" As if you know a lot, your brother knows more than you, call him, let him help his wife, why should she prepare everything alone"

"No need maa, it's okay I'll manage" I said trying to avoid rahul but maa is also very stubborn and called him

"Help your wife in the kitchen, it's her first time cooking here, don't let her do everything alone" she said and left a very annoyed husband to help me

"I don't need any help, you can go" I said without looking at him

He just looked at me and said "We'll go and get Arohi after breakfast"

I nodded and continued with my work thinking he had left, when I wasn't able to find the sugar I suddenly heard his voice "It's on the top left shelf" and i startled almost dropping the hot liquid on my hand

"Are you always this clumsy" he asked in an annoyed tone and came forward to see my hand if it was burnt

"Be careful next time" he said after checking for any injuries and left

Maa called me for breakfast and the halwa was almost done anyways. everyone was ready and were waiting for me at the breakfast table. Even Rohan who wasn't there yesterday was sitting here today. There was a seat next to Rahul and it was right opposite to Rohan.

I hadn't spoken to Rohan properly after I agreed to marry his brother, I tried several times but it looked like he was just avoiding me, he offered me a small smile as I sat down and I smiled back at him

I served everyone the halwa and I hadn't tasted it yet but it looked pretty good

"waah bhabhi, you prepared Rahul bhaiya ka favourite sweet, there's no way that he won't leave it for us now, he's a hogger when it comes to sweets" everyone laughed at that except Rahul who was busy on his phone

I guess we had something in common after all because I also had a very sweet tooth.

everyone praised my halwa even rohan but not rahul, he just had a bite and left it, he didn't even complete the halwa on his plate, I felt a little sad because even if he doesn't like me, he could have eaten the halwa, what is the need to put his dislike of me on my food.

I half heartedly ate my food and mummy ji who observed everything
"Rohan take your brother's halwa, doesn't look like he will eat it"

Rahul just stared at it and started eating it

After breakfast, I was waiting for Rahul to go and meet Arohi when Rohan came

"can we please talk?"

"yah sure, do you want to go to the garden and talk?"

"I'm really sorry I have been avoiding you for a few days"

"It's okay, I get it, but I really want everything to be fine between us, before all this we were friends and I miss that friendship" I said sadly

"I know, me too. I did feel a little bad about how you agreed so easily but i get it, you wanted to fulfill her dying wish and I realized that we were just friends still and nothing romantic had happened yet, and maybe you might actually be good for my brother"

"I don't want any awkwardness between us, so can we forget everything and just be friends, i'm really sorry if I have hurt you but that was not my intentions, my intentions were really pure and I just did everything for that little angel"

"I know, that's why it's so hard to hate you, and maybe I would have also done the same if i was in your position" he said with a smile and I could feel everything was alright

"You'll be the little brother I never had" I said with a laugh and hugged him with one arm

just then I heard someone say "shall we go?" and I separated instantly from Rohan. I didn't want Rahul to get the wrong idea of me and his brother

Rahul looked at both of us with a straight face and stared ahead looking indifferently

the silence was too awkward and rohan broke it first "I have to leave to office, I'll see you in the evening bhaiya and you too bhabhi"

I followed Rahul to the car and took the front seat, putting on my seat belt.

I know he wants to ask something but he silently drove the car and I wondered if this would be my life from now on, no communication with him at all
